Hi there! We know Span is home to your most precious, personal life memories — from career milestones to quiet personal wins, family moments to travel adventures. Your privacy is our absolute top priority, so this policy lays out exactly how we handle (and mostly don't handle) your data, with zero confusing legal jargon.

✨ Core Privacy Guarantee first: All your personal life chapters, milestones, photos, notes and timeline content are stored locally on your device by default. We never access, upload or store any of your private memories on our servers unless you explicitly choose to share content with us voluntarily.

What Data We Collect (And What We Definitely Don't)

Zero mandatory data collection: You never need to create an account, share your name, email, phone number or any identifiable information to use every single Span feature, including logging milestones, building timelines, archiving chapters and exporting your full collection.
We do not track your in-app behavior. There are no hidden analytics scripts, no usage monitoring, and no data collected about how you interact with your personal timeline.
The only data we ever receive is data you choose to send us voluntarily: this includes feedback emails, bug reports, feature requests, or timeline content you choose to share with us directly. We only keep this information for as long as we need it to respond to you or improve the app.
We never scan, read or access the personal content you store in your local Span app. All your data stays fully under your control on your own device.

How We Use Your Data

We will never sell, rent, lease or share any of your personal information or content with third parties, including advertisers, marketing partners or other platforms.
If you send us feedback or support requests, we will only use your contact information to respond to your message, and will never add you to a mailing list or send you unsolicited messages.
If you choose to share your timeline creations with us publicly or via email, we will never post, share or repurpose your content anywhere without your explicit written permission.
We never use your personal content for training AI models, product marketing or any other use case that doesn't directly improve your experience using Span.

Your Data Rights

You own 100% of all content you create in Span. You can edit, delete, export, share or reproduce your content for any personal use, with no permission required from us.
Since all your content is stored locally on your device, you can permanently delete all your Span data at any time by clearing the app storage or uninstalling the app. We have no backup of your content, so once you delete it from your device, it is completely erased.
If you have ever sent us personal information (like an email for support requests), you can contact us at any time to request we permanently delete all records of your correspondence, and we will fulfill your request within 7 business days with no questions asked.
You are free to export your full curated timeline collection at any time to store backups, share with loved ones, or move to another platform if you choose to stop using Span.

Data Security

All content stored locally in the Span app is protected with device-level encryption, to prevent unauthorized access if your device is lost or stolen.
Any data you choose to send to our team via email or in-app feedback is stored on encrypted, access-controlled servers, and is only accessible to core Span team members working on support or product improvements.
Important reminder: Since we do not store copies of your personal timeline content, we cannot recover your data if you lose your device, uninstall the app without exporting a backup, or damage your device. We highly recommend regularly exporting your collection to your own personal cloud storage or external drive to keep your memories safe.

Policy Updates

If we ever need to update this privacy policy, we will announce the changes in the Span app at least 30 days before they take effect, so you have plenty of time to review the changes and decide if you want to continue using Span.
We will never make changes to this policy that reduce your privacy rights without clear, upfront notice and the option to opt out by discontinuing use of the app.
